Poet Yahya Ashour will deliver a 30-minute poetry reading and a 45-minute Q&A for the OSU community. Local Palestinian poet Adonia Balqis will present an introduction, and the host/moderator is Professor Johanna Sellman
Yahya Ashour was born in Gaza City, on April 22nd, 1998. He's a touring poet and an award-winning author. He's a 2022 fellow in writing at the University of Iowa. He has one poetry collection and one children's book published in Arabic and has contributed to several printed anthologies and online journals worldwide. His writings have been translated into English, French, Spanish, Italian and Finnish. He has delivered several creative writing workshops for children and youth in Gaza.
This event is free and open to the public. It is hosted by the Center for Ethnic Studies, the Asian American Studies Program, the Department of Geography, the Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, the Department of Near Eastern and South Asian Languages, the Department of Art Education, Education and Policy and the Department of African American and African Studies.
